The fall months along Florida's highway 30A are wonderful. Crowds are down, and it's not as hot as it was during peak summer months. I get many questions this time of year what to expect in regards to the weather, what kind of clothes to bring, and what kind of activities are best during this time of year. It varies a lot depending on the month, so I'm going to break it down month by month for you! But first, let's go over some essentials.
Things you will need regardless of the month:
Sunglasses: Ideally polarized. Shop my fav inexpensive Amazon sunglasses here.
Beach Towels: as someone who has an obsession with beach towels.... my favorite types are Turkish Beach Towels and the Microfiber Beach Towels. You'll find a super cute Amazon microfiber beach towel here that is compact and easy to travel with!
Beach Bag: check out my current favorite Amazon beach bag here. It's sand resistant and fits so much stuff!
Cooler: I'm linking my current favorite Amazon cooler here. Yes, it's a cooler! (A cute cooler!)
Sunburn Relief Spray...just in case! Linked here. I also love this Aloe gel. It saved me a few months ago! Both are from Amazon!
These all natural mosquito bands can get wet and still repel biting bugs. They can be worn by kids or adults. You never know when biting bugs will be at the beach, so we love throwing these in our beach bag just in case! Nothing will ruin a beach day like bugs trying to bite you all day long!
Beach Toys - if you are visiting with kids, this kit from Amazon allows you to make sandcastles and so much more!!
Luggage - this suitcase is awesome because you can make it super compact when you aren't using it! It can even be stowed under a bed when it's not in use!
Visiting in September: The average water temperature in September is around 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The air temperature ranges from an average low of 74 degrees Fahrenheit to an average high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit. I am still in typical summer beach mode when it comes to outfits & activities on 30A. Activities are definitely still revolving around the water. I highly recommend visiting Destin for the day for some boating fun. See below for 3 of my favorite options!
Visiting in October: The average water temperature in October is around 78 degrees Fahrenheit. The air temperature ranges from an average low of 60 degrees Fahrenheit to an average high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The first couple weeks of October are generally a little warmer, and then the temperature starts to decline at the end of the month. This month you could wear anything from summer outfits to a light jacket/pants/etc. This month can be trickier to pack for, so if you want any shopping inspo, click here or click on my Amazon Fall break guide below!
See below for some fun water activities for October. In early October, you can refer to the September water activities above... but as you get into later October you might want to do boating activities that don't involve getting as wet... like the ones I've listed below :)
Visiting in November: The average water temperature in November is around 71 degrees Fahrenheit. The air temperature ranges from an average low of 55 degrees Fahrenheit to an average high of 71 degrees Fahrenheit. I am generally not getting in the water this month, unless it's just a really nice day out. It's still great for hanging out on the beach! This is a great month for beach bonfires, biking along 30A, hiking 30A's trails, and shopping! I'll link some activities below! E-biking 30A is SO much fun!
I hope this helps with your fall vacation planning! Stay tuned for more fall content - I am planning on sharing upcoming fall events along 30A, Thanksgiving options on 30A, and more!!
